Varsity Coach Rick Sweney

Rick Sweney is in his fifth year as Varsity Coach of the Niagara Wheatfield Falcons. Prior to becoming head coach, Sweney served as Junior Varsity Coach with then Varsity Coach Tim Lukasik for five seaons. During Coach Sweney's stint as head coach he has had 21 Section Six Champions.

Sweney has also had a long successful career as Varsity Coach for the Niagara Falls Powercats coaching 15 Sectional Champions (prior to the merger with LaSalle high school) and has been in coaching for 33 years. Rick Sweney is also the Executive Director of the Powercats Wrestling Club in Niagara Falls, four times Section Six youth champions.

Sweney is a 1972 graduate of Niagara Falls high school were he was a four year Varsity wrestler and team captain for two years. Coach Sweney was a Class Champion his senior year and Section Six finalist.

Sweney was the 1996 Section Six Coach of the Year.

Junior Varsity Coach Vince Schiffert

Vince Schiffert is now in his fifth season as the Junior Varsity Coach for the Falcons. Schiffert also served as Modified Coach for four seasons under Varsity Coach Tim Lukasik.

Schiffert is a 1981 graduate of Niagara Wheatfield where he was a three year Varisty wrestler, earning both Class and Sectional Championships and was named MOW at the Section Six State Qualifyer. Coach Schiffert placed 6th at the New York State High School Championships as a senior.

Coach Schiffert attended Syracuse University where he wrestled for the Orangemen. Coach Schiffert is a teacher in the Niagara Wheatfield school system and boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach.

Modified Coach Jeff Mitchell

Jeff Mitchell in in his sixth season coaching the NW Modified team and serving as an assistant with the Varsity team.

Mitchell is a 2005 graduate of Niagara Wheatfield and was captain of both the school's wrestling and football team as a senior. Mitchell was the 20th Niagara Wheatfield wrestler to accomplish winning over 100 matches and was all NFL 1st team as a senior.
